Willinghurst Old / New Lakes

As I'm very busy at the moment, plus the fact that Mrs Pikey has discovered "Farm World" on Facebook so it is now a race each day to get on the laptop, here is a quick review of what happened wednesday aided by a few photos.

With only 14 pegs on New and Old Lakes you would have thought that the pegging couldn't have been easier but everyone has their own ideas and I ended up on Peg 10 on New Lake which has very little recent form and I'd much rather have draw any of the other pegs.

After about two hours of fishing corn on the pole and only the Willinghurst Pet Goldfish to show for my efforts - modelled here by Plummers, I decided that I just had to set up a lead rod. I spent most of the remaining hours just lobbing a T Bag out into the open water and had to grab the rod 6 times as carp tried to swim off with my rod.

Plummers at the next peg provided some entertainment when he couldn't get a bite in the usual spots in the peg so decided to fish inside the tree, (See Picture) despite the fact that I told him he never ever get a fish out of it.

Sure enough, here he is trying to get his rig back with the score about 3-0 to the carp and they went on to record a convincing 9-0 victory and made off with two of his beloved Hillbilly floats !

Terry Harrison drew a corner peg in Old Lake (Peg 14) and fished a long pole to the bar for a convincing victory with 129-2-0, followed by Jason Morgan fishing the method feeder on New 6 for 94-8-0 and Alan Harrington 80-8-0 on Old 24. John Clifford was still fishless at 3pm but caught 7 fish in the edge late in the match for 77-4-0 - including this beauty of 22-2-0.
