Willinghurst Top Lake - Molesey League

Well, what a nightmare that was as I had another of those matches where I did it all wrong ! With the water warming up a bit I decided on a catfood attack and although I had three carp on it, I think I had a roach bite on it every cast ! By the time I decided that I wasn't going to win anything fishing catfood I was already too far behind those fishing corn and pellett so did a bit of wandering and took a few pictures. My three carp, two tench and some roach went 21-4-0 but here is a bit of a pictorial report.

Brian Wallin drew the end peg 28 by the island on the back spit and fished a 14 metre pole and pellett in the shallow water by the point of the island to catch carp on and off all day. When he cupped in bait you could see the fish swirling and tails around the float and for Brian it was a question of sorting out the proper bites from the liners.

Mick Fitzpatrick drew the other end peg on the back spit (Peg 22) and pushed Jeff Simmons, pictured left on Peg 26 into third place. Jeff started off on the feeder but when that died switched to the pole with corn and continued to catch. Tony Kent switched between feeder and pole to push two times Fishomania finalist Ian Covey into 5th place by ounces

Bob Ward - The Infamous Sponge Bob drew peg 25 and after catching a few fish on the feeder, finally regretted the "Few" drinks he had saturday night and had a sleep on the bank for an hour before waking up to catch this carp !

For me it was a frustrating day but the warm weather has started to wake up the carp from their winter slumber and as the weather inproves over the next few months the fishery will hopefully start to fish a lot better.

Monday and Tuesday sees me at Bury Hill fisheries for a two day "Festival" on the Main Lake. I don't expect to do finish in the frame as bream fishing on the feeder isn't really "My Thing" but I'll be back with a report on Thursday.
