An Apology

Sorry I haven’t been updating my blog as often as I would like, but as Pikey’s Progress is at the moment appearing in Angling Times, I have been unable to write on here as much as I don’t want to duplicate things. However, who knows how long it will continue and I could soon be blogging all my matches on here in a week or so !

Rainbow Trust Children's Charity supports families who have terminally ill children. At present we support about 1000 families a year but there are hundreds of others that we can't help due to lack of funds.

Pikey: My name is Dave Pearson, I am 52 years old (yes I know I look a lot younger) and I have been match fishing - mainly with my club Leatherhead DAS for the past 38or so years. I fish matches on most Sundays throughout the year at venues such as Willinghurst, Willow Park, Gold Valley and Sumners Pond. I also run a number of "Club" angler leagues in Autumn and winter and am a keen contributor to the Match Fishing Scene and Total -Fishing.com websites where I have made a number of new friends over the years. I took redundancy from BT after 27 years with them and after working as a volunteer 2 days a week for 18 months, finally bullied Rainbow Trust Children's Charity into giving me a job ! I picked up the Pikey nickname many years ago courtesy of the then Leatherhead competition secretary Richard Codd, not because I live in a caravan - cos I don't, but because I won a couple of club matches aided by a couple of jack pike.

Drennan Lake Floats - I used to use these floats for crucians and have recently started using them again for my silvers fishing, The cane bristle makes them especially sensitive.

I use this hook for nearly all my carp fishing from Size 10's with paste, 14's with the knotless knot on the lead and 18's for Hook in the loop rigs and they have never let me down.

How smart are this lot - Andy May and his wife with some of the motley Total fishing.com crew. There is a small pond just out of the picture and they fished a small sweepstake between the wedding ceremony and the reception ! Andy May won, Haisman was last - no change there then !

Jeff Moors took part in the recent Catfish Challenge and caught this one - more of a "kitten" than a cat really !

Scone - Angling writer, float maker and all round good egg !

"Hathers" with his 3-8-0 roach from Timsbury Manor - some claim it was really a hybrid, I couldn't possibly comment !

"Fordy on the Telly" with 40lb of prime River Kennet chub.
